As the Niners clinched the NFC’s No. 1 seed, they will host the Lions in the conference Championship. However, before the kickoff, Goff shared his thoughts on the upcoming game, shedding light on the struggles and the 49ers’ defense.

In a pregame press conference with the Lions, Jared Goff appeared to talk to the media about his upcoming game with San Francisco. During the presser, a curious reporter asked Goff about the pressure and challenges of playing in the NFC title game, especially since it’s in his hometown. The quarterback acknowledged the pressure but emphasized the excitement of being one win away from the Super Bowl.
He said about the challenges that “it’s part of it.” Goff continued, “This week we’ll be a little bit more attentive than last week, and of course, there’s four teams left, and this is the time you dream of as a kid, and you grow up hoping to be in these final games, and we’re one win away from our ultimate goal of getting to the Super Bowl and winning that game as well.” When asked about the team’s success on the road, Goff said they can rely on that experience and are ready for another challenging game in a hostile environment.

Talking about the 49ers’ strong defense, especially the “athletic” linebackers like Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw, Goff admitted, “Both those guys are really dang good, and I’ve been unfortunate to be on the other side of the ball from them quite sometimes and they’re really good. They’re both very smart. They’re both very fast. They both play sideline to sideline; they’re both involved in the run game and the pass game, and yeah, a lot of respect for both those guys.”

Emerge as Championship Favorites
The two standout players of San Francisco, Warner and Greenlaw, have done some excellent job in the season. Warner, who is known for being consistently good in coverage and had his best season in run defense, with 2 INTs, sacks, and forced fumbles, each. Greenlaw, too, had a standout year, playing on the correct side of the line. He was also acknowledged by coach Kyle Shanahan, who called Dre his team’s “enforcer.”
Goff thinks the Niners’ defense and linebackers are unique, but they will still do their “best to knock them off” in a “fun game.“
