Words would fall short to describe Sunday’s race at Pocono Raceway. With just five races left in the regular season of the Cup Series, the drivers were ready to walk the extra mile and seize the last bits of opportunities when presented themselves, in order to make it to the post-season and collect the extra stage points. But the race was nothing less than an on-track debacle, as the majority of the drivers found themselves entangled in a number of incidents that brought out the caution.

Austin Dillon has surely portrayed his caliber as a Cup Series driver, especially after being joined by the 2x Cup Series champion Kyle Busch as a teammate in the ongoing season. This prowess of the No.3 Chevrolet driver was evident on the 2.5-mile triangle tracks of Pocono Raceway. However, the happiness of the driver was assuredly short-lived, as he suffered a huge impact at Lap 106 and for which he blamed his former teammate Tyler Reddick.

The incident occurred when the RCR driver was running 11th on the track and was running three wide along with 23 XI Racing driver Tyler Reddick and Brad Keselowski, but soon ran out of space at Turn 1. This eventually led Austin Dillon to be shoved to the outside wall, and Tyler Reddick made contact with Dillon. Nevertheless, the No.3 Chevrolet was completely battered down and was surely beyond repairs. Dillon was also sent to the infield care center in order to check for concussions and was released shortly after being examined.

As reported by Dustin Albino, Richard Childress expressed his anger by saying, “That little prick just wrecked him.”

Moreover, Dillon was completely furious by the action exhibited by his former teammate Tyler Reddick. Dillon also threw his gloves and helmet on the track after exiting his car, after being wrecked. This apparently brought back memories from Tony Stewart’s infamous incident at Bristol Motor Speedway, where Matt Kenseth and Stewart were jockeying for the lead. However, both drivers ended up getting wrecked after making contact with each other. This eventually led to Stewart throwing his helmet at Kenseth’s car on the pit lane.

Nevertheless, after calling it a day, Dillon heaved his disappointment with the incident and expressed to the journalist of NBC Sports, “I was mad, I heard … that I came down a little bit. Felt like I was on my own and he was at my left rear, going two or three wide, think I have at least held my lane. I mean I have got to turn at some point to get down. Brad’s on the outside, maybe a half lane up but Tyler drove it in there. Obviously, I feel like he drove in deep enough where he had to drive up into me […]”

The journalist also asked whether the throwing of gloves and helmet on the track was enough or not, to this the driver replied, “No, I just need to start wrecking some people.”
