Such a fixture has brought out the explosive side of both clubs, in particular Klopp and his counterpart Pep Guardiola.
However, the former appeared more playful than stressed ahead of the crunch clash when he took training in the days prior.
Sky Sports reporter Vinny O’Connor paid a visit to their AXA Training Ground in Kirkby and was involved in a friendly tussle with the Liverpool boss.
“Thank you for the 12:30 [kick-off]” Klopp jokingly said as he had the journalist in a headlock and gave him a light punch in the chest.

Liverpool fans were quick to react on social media and weren’t afraid to admit their jealousy of O’Connor for getting a hug from the boss.
Taking to X, one said: “You got a Klopp hug. Millions of us are v jealous.”
“You got a Klopp hug, you lucky git Vinny,” added a second with two laughing emojis.
An envious third said: “What I would give for that headlock and punch off Klopp.”
“Lucky b******,” a fourth very simply said along with heart emojis.
Speaking on what happened himself, O’Connor said: “He’s in a bit of a playful mood, I think it’s fair to say. Relaxed, but at the same time made a little bit of a reference as to how ‘happy’ he is with the 12:30 kick-off on Saturday as well.
“He came over, had a few words, sort of one little moment that was a potential red card I would argue. But he seemed in pretty good spirits.”
Klopp has been a fan favourite at Anfield amid the success he’s brought and his passion on the touchline, with the German giving his heart and soul for the club.
Saturday’s trip to City will be a huge test of their potential Premier League title credentials this season, with the hosts sitting top.
Liverpool are just one point behind them in second though, with a huge three points up for grabs at an Etihad Stadium that they last won at in the league in 2015.
