Liverpool eye Salah replacement
Liverpool have identified Juventus forward Federico Chiesa as a “potential replacement” for Mohamed Salah, claims a report in the Liverpool Echo.
Salah had been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League last summer and The Reds reportedly have a Plan B if the Egypt international decides to move away from Anfield.
Chiesa, 26, has scored eight goals and grabbed two assists in 30 games for the Italian giants so far this season.
The article reads: “Reports in Italy have claimed that the Reds could reignite their interest in Juventus winger Federico Chiesa this summer.
“The Italian’s current deal in Turin expires next summer with Tuttosport claiming that Liverpool could take advantage.
“It is claimed that the Serie A club are currently locked in negotiations with Chiesa over a potential new deal with their preference to reach an agreement before this summer’s European Championships.
“If he fails to agree on an extension, the Reds could look to sign him as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, if the Egyptian leaves Merseyside.”
Reds to battle Man Utd for Faye
Manchester United and Liverpool will reportedly go head-to-head in a battle to sign Barcelona teenager Mikayil Faye.
The 19-year-old is said to be highly sought after having starred for Barcelona B in defence this season.
“Manchester United will face competition for the services of Mikayil Faye, it’s been claimed,” The Sun writes.
“The Red Devils are said to be hot on the heels of the Barcelona B wonderkid, who has been a revelation in his first season with the Catalans.
“But the Premier League big boys could face a battle for his signature with bitter rivals Liverpool.
“That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who claim the Merseysiders are also trying to ‘acquire’ the 19-year-old this summer.
“Bayern Munich, Lille, Monaco and Nice are also said to be interested in luring the centre-back away from Barca’s youth team.
“The immense interest in Faye recently prompted his agents to hold showdown talks with Barca’s sporting director, former Chelsea midfielder Deco.”
Palmer set for significant new deal at Chelsea
Cole Palmer is set for a significant new deal at Chelsea, claims a report in The Sun.
The forward, who was signed from Manchester City last summer, has scored 25 goals in 42 appearance in all competitions in what has been a disappointing season for The Blues.
“Chelsea plan to open talks with Cole Palmer’s representatives over a new lucrative contract before the end of the season – with the in-form star potentially playing a role at Euro 2024,” notes the outlet.
“His current deal is due to run until 2030, and while Chelsea are in no rush to finalise an agreement, they intend to reward Palmer’s red-hot form with a significant pay-rise.
“The former Manchester City starlet currently earns in excess of £80,000-a-week which is notably less than most of his Chelsea team-mates, the majority of which have struggled to perform under Pochettino this season.
“Raheem Sterling, for instance, is understood to earn around £325,000 per week and Chelsea intend to bridge the gap between Palmer and the club’s top-earners as they continue to build for the future.”
