Everyone, who was present in the stands to cheer out for Rafa had tears in their eyes. This even included his wife and sister Mariabel Nadal, who also celebrated the longevity of his career in the stands.

While they have been in Rafa’s box since day one of the Madrid Open, it was a very emotional moment for them as well as they couldn’t control tears rolling down from their eyes. Having seen someone so close to them make their name at the top and now finally playing for one last time could be an emotional moment for anyone.
Just like everyone, it was a difficult moment to digest for Nadal as well. “This is one or those times where when it arrives, it’s very difficult… but life and my body have been sending signals to me for a long time. My dream was to finish here on court. I have been fortunate in my life to turn my passion into my job. I am privileged,” said Nadal in the interview.

Thus, even though Rafael Nadal was not able to end his campaign in Madrid the way he wanted to, he gave his everything on the court. However, he ended his campaign with tears rolling down everyone’s eyes.
