Manchester City will be hoping to return to winning ways when they welcome Brighton and Hove Albion to The Amex next weekend.
The reigning Premier League champions have lost their last two matches in the competition, for the first time since 2018.
Defeats against both Wolves and Arsenal have left Pep Guardiola’s side third in the league table, two points behind leaders Tottenham Hotspur.
City have been without instrumental midfielder Rodri for their past two matches after the Spaniard’s sending off against Nottingham Forest, with Guardiola using a number of different players in his absence.
Mateo Kovacic and Rico Lewis started in midfield against the Gunners, before defender John Stones was substituted on as a makeshift central midfielder in the second half.
Stones was selected ahead of his England teammate Kalvin Phillips, who continues to struggle for game time at City.
Now, it appears that the Manchester outfit could accept an offer for the midfielder in January.
According to Football Insider, both Phillips and Man City are in agreement that the player should leave the club.
The report claims that both parties feel it is in their best interests for Phillips to depart The Etihad, and City could therefore accept an offer for him in January.
Phillips, 27, joined City from Leeds United last summer but has only made 26 appearances for the club across all competitions.
The midfielder has only played five times so far this season, with his only three Premier League appearances all coming from the bench.
With that in mind, the Englishman will look to source a move away from Manchester when the transfer window reopens.
He will look to find a move to a club where he will be assured of more playing time, the report claims.
