Manchester United have won just twice in their 12 Champions League games against Bayern Munich, losing five and drawing five.
The last win came back in the 2009/10 knockout clash – but that was the second leg in which the aggregate resulted 4-4, with Bayern progressing to the next round.
There does seem to be plenty of goals in this fixture, no matter what year it may be, with 22 goals in the last six games in all competitions.
Whereas just in the UCL, over the last five games there’s been 21 goals netted and neither side have kept a clean sheet.
Bayern have won the last two fixtures, in September 2023 and April 2014, while Man United were much better against the German side when they had Sir Alex Ferguson in charge.

Due to Manchester United’s current form it’s difficult to see them beating Bayern.
But the visitors were shocked on Saturday against Frankfurt, losing 5-1, as they were incredibly clinical whereas Bayern were off target 16 times.
They will of course need to be much better at Old Trafford but their squad as a whole looks much stronger than the Red Devils.
Especially with Harry Kane returning to the UK to play against a very familiar team.
Kane has one goal and an assist in the Champions League when facing Man United, which occurred in the reverse fixture.
He also has five goals in 18 appearances in the Premier League, though three of those came in the last six games between 2019-2023.
He’s clearly thriving in Germany too, with 18 goals in just 13 appearances in the Bundseliga and has now netted four in just five appearances in the UCL for his new squad.
