Manchester United schedule new talks in effort to sign Serie A striker

Manchester United were beaten 2-0 by Spanish giants Real Madrid in their latest pre-season friendly on Thursday.

England international Jude Bellingham gave the La Liga side the lead, before former Stoke City man Joselu made sure of the result in the second half.

United boss Erik ten Hag has made clear his view that United need to sign a striker before the new season starts, and it appears that those in charge of the club are working to do so.

As per Fabrizio Romano, United have scheduled further talks with Italian side Atalanta as they look to reach an agreement for striker Rasmus Hojlund.

The Red Devils are set to sit down once again with their Italian counterparts in the coming week, with a view to finalising an agreement.

Hojlund remains a target for Manchester United

Hojllund, 20, has reportedly agreed personal terms with United already, meaning that the Premier League side now only need to reach an agreement with Atalanta.

United are said to have launched a package bid worth around £50 million for the player, and they will now hold further talks.

The young forward joined his current side from Austrian club Sturm Graz last summer and enjoyed a fine debut season in Italy.

He made 34 appearances across all competitions, scoring ten goals and providing four assists.

The Danish striker’s form didn’t go unnoticed, though, as Romano claims that French champions Paris Saint-Germain have also shown an interest in the player.

Despite PSG’s interest, it is claimed that the French side’s bid fell below Atalanta’s valuation of the player and Hojlund himself is believed to prefer the idea of a move to Old Trafford.
