Marko rules out F1 seat for Ferrari prodigy Bearman

Dr. Helmut Marko has made it clear that Oliver Bearman, despite his remarkable Jeddah debut, will not be given a spot at Red Bull’s junior Formula 1 team, RB.

Following Bearman’s impressive performance in the unwell Carlos Sainz’s stead at Ferrari during the recent Saudi Arabian GP, Marko, Red Bull’s senior F1 consultant, suggested Ferrari should secure him a full-time place on the grid. “If I were Fred Vasseur, I would immediately find Bearman a cockpit in another team – I don’t know, at Haas for example,” Marko mentioned to Speed Week.

In a follow-up discussion with the Osterreich newspaper for more insights this week, Marko noted, “They bought (Lewis) Hamilton at great expense and signed (Charles) Leclerc to a long-term contract. I’d put the boy in a smaller team like Haas next year,” he reiterated. “A year of learning never hurt anyone and will also take the pressure off him.”

However, Marko clarified that Bearman’s learning year would not occur at Red Bull’s junior team. “We actually had an informative conversation with him,” Marko revealed, “but he was already in the Ferrari academy. It is inconceivable that we would train him up for Ferrari.”
