Old Boys to welcome Messi back in 2025
Lionel Messi will reportedly make an emotional return to Newell’s Old Boys when his contract expires at Inter Miami in 2025.
“Messi is reportedly set to leave Miami and seal an emotional return to boyhood club Newell’s, where he plans to bring the curtain down on his legendary career,” the article states.
“It is believed Messi wants to bring his career full circle and retire from the game with Newell’s, coming as a blow to Miami in their likely hopes of tying him down to a new contract in the near future.”
Messi has netted 11 goals in 12 games since his arrival in the US, helping Inter Miami to its first ever trophy in the Leagues Cup.
Messi played for Newell’s Old Boys as a youngster before leaving for Barcelona.
Chelsea want to sign US teenage sensation
Chelsea are interested in signing teenage American sensation Julian Hall from New York Red Bulls, but face stiff competition for his signature.
The 15-year-old recently became the second-youngest player ever to play in Major League Soccer.
The report states: “Chelsea interest started when Hall scored twice against them in an Under-15s Generation adidas Cup match in April.
“The Blues have been scouting him since then and have been trying to attract the USA youth international for a trial at Cobham ahead of his 16th birthday in January.”
Ten Hag’s job at Man Utd safe
“Erik ten Hag’s position as Manchester United manager is secure for the foreseeable future and is not an issue up for discussion by the club executive,” states the outlet.
“Despite a dismal run of early-season form featuring six defeats from 10 games, including Tuesday’s 3-2 Champions League defeat by Galatasaray, Ten Hag retains the firm confidence of the hierarchy, who view the Dutchman as the right manager to take the side forward in the long term, the Guardian understands.
“Although Ten Hag has never cited injuries as a reason for United’s displays it is acknowledged internally that he has suffered a particularly bad run, at one point being without 16 players.”
United are 10th in the Premier League having lost four of their opening seven games while they’ve lost back-to-back games in the UEFA Champions League.
