Other stars like Draymond Green, Fred VanVleet and Khris Middleton are also sure to keep things interesting.

While players can’t officially sign deals until 12:01 p.m. ET on Thursday, July 6, plenty of them will agree to terms in the next few days. The Sporting News will be tracking all of the notable signings and trades.

We’ve anchored to the biggest transactions below. Click the link to jump down to some of the marquee moves so far.

Draymond Green returns to Warriors | Kristaps Porzingis’ Celtics extension | Kyrie Irving stays in Dallas | Suns fill out their bench | Fred VanVleet’s max contract with Rockets

The Lakers add another former lottery pick with high upside as the 23-year-old Hayes heads to LA on a two-year deal. According to Wojnarowski, Hayes will have a player option for the 2024-25 season.

Max Strus lands with Cavaliers via three-team sign-and-trade

Date: July 1

Source: Adrian Wojnarowski, ESPN

It’s a big payday for the undrafted Strus, who heads to Cleveland on a four-year, $63 million deal. In the deal, the Heat receive a second-round pick and the Spurs, who helped facilitate the deal, will receive Cedi Osman and Lamar Stevens from Cleveland.

Desmond Bane signs $207 million max contract extension with Grizzlies

Another designated rookie extension is done. The Grizzlies have signed Bane to a five-year, $207 million max contract extension to lock up their franchise cornerstone trio alongside Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr.

Tyrese Haliburton inks $260 million max contract extension with Pacers

Date: July 1

Thunder acquire Victor Oladipo from Heat

Date: June 30

Source: Shams Charania, The Athletic

The Heat have traded Oladipo and draft compensation to the Thunder, creating a $9.45 million Traded Player Exception in the deal. Could this be the deal before the deal for Miami? That is to be determined.

Oladipo will have his second stint in Oklahoma City as he rehabilitates a torn patellar tendon suffered during the 2023 NBA Playoffs.

Pistons acquire Monte Morris from Wizards

Date: June 30

Source: Shams Charania, The Athletic

The Pistons are adding a veteran guard to their rotation, sending a second-round pick to the Wizards for a trusty floor general. Washington will create a $9.8 million Traded Player Exception with the deal, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Just moments after the news broke that Fred VanVleet would be headed to Houston on a maximum contract, the Raptors wasted no time to find their replacement. Schroder has signed a two-year, $26 million contract with Toronto, assuming the starting point guard role.

Fred VanVleet is headed to Houston

Perhaps the biggest move of the day so far, VanVleet has inked a three-year, $130 million maximum contract to join the Rockets. VanVleet is a 29-year-old, one-time All-Star who is expected to bring a winner’s mentality to a young Houston core.

Date: June 30

Source: Shams Charania, The Athletic; Brad Turner, LA Times

Pelicans lock up defensive stopper Herb Jones

Date: June 30

Source: Adrian Wojnarowski & Andrew Lopez, ESPN

The Pelicans turned some heads when they declined Jones’ team option the day before free agency, but now it’s clear it was to work out a longer deal. New Orleans has signed the defensive stopper to a four-year, $54 million contract.

The 35th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Jones has been a steal for the Pelicans as a promising 24-year-old for their young core.

Suns land more bench depth with Yuta Watanabe

Date: June 30

The Suns are wasting no time building up their supporting cast, adding sharpshooting forward Watanabe to a group of five other free agents.

Watanabe has familiarity with Durant during their time in Brooklyn. He shot a blistering 44.4 percent from 3-point range last season.

Lakers make big splash by signing Gabe Vincent

Date: June 30

Source: Shams Charania, The Athletic

Cam Johnson gets paid in Brooklyn

Date: June 30

Jakob Poeltl stays with Raptors on lucrative deal

Date: June 30

In 20 games with the Mavericks, Irving averaged 27.0 points, 6.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game. Dallas has its backcourt locked up with him and Luka Doncic.

Date: June 30

Source: Shams Charania, The Athletic; Chris Haynes, Bleacher Report; ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski

The Suns need to fill out their roster around the star foursome of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal and Deandre Ayton.

They have added five bench pieces by signing reserve big men Eubanks and Metu, and reserve forward Bates-Diop, while re-signing reserve wings Okogie and Lee.

Date: June 30

Source: Shams Charania, The Athletic

And the first deal of free agency belongs to… Draymond Green! The Warriors have retained their franchise cornerstone on a four-year, $100 million deal. The contract includes a player option in Year 4.

Nets send Joe Harris to Pistons

Date: June 30

Source: Shams Charania, The Athletic

Rumor: The Nets are sending Harris and two future second-round picks to the Pistons in order to shed salary and create a trade exception. Harris, a career 43.7 percent 3-point shooter, will make $19.9 million in the final year of his deal.

Harrison Barnes signs three-year contract extension with Kings
