Former New York Jets’ first-round safety Jamal Adams has finally found a home, and it’s not with the team that drafted him No. 6 overall in 2017.

On Thursday, the Tennessee Titans announced the signing of Adams to an undisclosed contract. The 28-year-old box safety spent the last four seasons with the Seattle Seahawks prior to being released this past March.

Adams, also known as “Prez” or “President Adams,” played his first three NFL seasons for the Jets before being traded away for a haul of draft picks. The three-time Pro Bowl selection never played more than 12 games in a season for Seattle. He made a combined 10 appearances since the beginning of the 2022 campaign.

Over 46 starts as a Jet, Adams totaled 12.0 sacks, 28 tackles-for-loss and six forced fumbles. He also recorded 25 passes defensed.

The Jets lost starting strong safety Jordan Whitehead in free agency this offseason, so, naturally, the national talking heads speculated about a potential homecoming for Adams, who has since alienated himself from the Jets’ fan base.

Instead of bringing the opinionated Adams back into the fold, the Jets appear content with either Chuck Clark or Ashtyn Davis becoming a starter at safety. There are a few decorated veterans remaining on the free agent market, including former Denver Broncos’ Pro Bowler Justin Simmons.
