Newcastle look to Saudi Pro League for Tonali replacement

Newcastle line up Tonali replacement

Newcastle United will look to Saudi Arabia to replace Sandro Tonali, who has been banned for 10 months.

“Newcastle are considering using their Saudi connections to sign a loan replacement for banned star Sandro Tonali – with Ruben Neves and N’Golo Kante in their sights,” the Mirror writes.

“If (Eddie) Howe decides to use the loan market, he may look to Saudi Arabia. Newcastle are owned by the Public Investment Fund, Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund. The PIF also own four Saudi Pro League clubs: Al-Ittihad, Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli.

“As such, Newcastle could ask the PIF to sign a midfielder on loan for the rest of the season, which would help with Financial Fair Play (FFP). The four Saudi clubs owned by PIF all signed midfielders from top-flight European clubs during the summer.

“Franck Kessie and Gabri Veiga are at Al-Ahli, and Fabinho and Kante have joined Saudi champions Al-Ittihad. Marcelo Brozovic, Seko Fofana and Otavio play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr, while Al-Hilal boast the talents of Neves and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.”

Arsenal hope to keep youngster

The Sun reports that Arsenal are looking to keep hold of teenager Amario Cozier-Duberry as his contract looks set to run out next season.

“Arsenal have planned talks to retain one of their brightest talents Amario Cozier-Duberry,” the paper explains.

“The youngster was branded “unplayable” by ex-Gunner who is now the U18 coach at the Emirates Jack Wilshere.

“Arsenal are ready to host talks with wonderkid Cozier-Duberry, 18, whose contract is set to expire in June 2024.

“Mikel Arteta will want to be quick to get the winger’s signature as a number of European giants are eager to steal the academy graduate.”

Charlton youngster targeted by Chelsea

Chelsea are one of a number of Premier League clubs who are looking at Chelsea youngster Miles Leaburn, according to the Mail.

The outlet states: “Chelsea and Brentford are among the clubs keeping tabs on Charlton prospect Miles Leaburn.

“Interest is mounting in striker Leaburn – the son of Addicks legend Carl, who made over 300 appearances for the club – ahead of the January window including from London neighbours Chelsea and Brentford.

“The towering 6ft 6in frontman is on the radar of a number of clubs after building on his breakout campaign last season, with six goals in just 10 appearances this season.

“The 19-year-old scored 13 in 40 games in his debut season at first-team level last year though only 23 of them were starts.

“Leaburn is already well known to Chelsea having come through the Stamford Bridge club’s academy before joining Charlton in 2019.”

United targets in doubt

The Express reports that Manchester United may have difficulties in reaching their revenue targets, which may affect Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

“Manchester United forecasted eclipsing £1 billion in revenue by the end of the 2027 financial year before rebuffing Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani’s bid for a full takeover,” the paper writes.

“The Glazer family are fully aware of their 18-year cash cow’s worth and believe there is much more milking to be done before they cash in.

“The US-based family hope for increased commercial and broadcast revenue and matchday income through means including new formats in the UEFA Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup.

“But it’s claimed that there is a belief that on-field performance will have to improve if United are to reach that £1bn projection.

“That’s likely where Sir Jim and INEOS come in. However, the risk of increased toxicity grows every week that goes by where they are the Glazers’ business partners rather than their successors.”
