Fans have been waiting for details of Newcastle United pre-season friendlies.
Usually by this point, supporters would have know most, if not all, of the warm-up matches.
However, up to this point it is only the two games in Japan that had been officially announced.
That is still the case, however, the Chronicle have now reported that their information is that a game at Hull City is set to go ahead.
They don’t name a date but state that they understand it will be just before they fly off to Japan for the two games there.
The first of the two matches in Japan is on Wednesday 31 July, so allowing a few days in advance of playing that game, if the Chronicle’s information is good, it looks likely to be on the weekend of Saturday 27 July. Which would be decent trip not far down the east coast and should get plenty of tickets.
A 200 or so miles round trip to Hull will be in contrast to next season’s Premier League journeys, United fans travelling thousands of miles more (see HERE) than any other fanbase if going to every match, based on distance from St James’ Park.
With the relegation of Sheffield United and Burnley, plus the failure of Leeds in the play-offs, plus Sunderland set to kick off an eighth season in a row in the lower divisions, it means the closest PL match for NUFC supporters next season is around 300 miles there and back to Manchester City.
