NFL free agency has had a fast and furious start in the 2024 offseason. Teams have wasted no time in the new league year, signing, trading, and releasing players to reform their rosters.
Although the first few waves of moves have been made with much of the best veteran talent no longer on the open market, there is still some valuable personnel help out there ahead of the April draft.
Here’s an updated look at who’s left unsigned after the early free-agent signing period:

NFL free agents 2024: The best players still available at each position
Quarterbacks
Ryan Tannehill, TitansJosh Dobbs, VikingsCarson Wentz, RamsTrevor Siemian, JetsBlaine Gabbert, ChiefsBrian Hoyer, Raiders
Tannehill might be the last viable veteran bridge option. The rest are more seasoned backups.
Running backs
JK Dobbins, RavensEzekiel Elliott, PatriotsD’Onta Foreman, BearsAlexander Mattison, RavensClyde Edwards-Helaire, ChiefsJerick McKinnon, ChiefsRashaad Penny, EaglesCam Akers, VikingsLatavius Murray, BillsMatt Breida, GiantsBoston Scott, EaglesDamien Harris, BillsKareem Hunt, BrownsJoshua Kelley, ChargersCordarrelle Patterson, Falcons
Elliott and Foreman have the most appeal as savvy power backs. Most of the rest are change-of-pace options or depth chart fliers.
Wide receivers
Mike Williams, ChargersTyler Boyd, BengalsDJ Chark, PanthersOdell Beckham Jr., RavensMichael Thomas, SaintsK.J. Osborn, VikingsJosh Reynolds, LionsMarquez Valdes-Scantling, ChiefsMichael Gallup, CowboysHunter Renfrow, RaidersAllen Robinson, SteelersIsaiah Hodgins, GiantsRandall Cobb, JetsParris Campbell, GiantsMecole Hardman, ChiefsLaviska Shenault, PanthersRichie James, ChiefsDeonte Harty, Bills
Williams shouldn’t last long after his release. Boyd leads the leftover slot charge. Beckham is looking for another chance after flashing in Baltimore. Thomas will hope to revive his career out of New Orleans.
Tight ends
Robert Tonyan, BearsLogan Thomas, CommandersC.J. Uzomah, JetsRoss Dwelley, 49ers
There’s not much here except limited recycled receivers and backup blockers.
Offensive tackles
Trent Brown, PatriotsDavid Bakhtiari, PackersMekhi Becton, JetsDonovan Smith, ChiefsCharles Leno Jr., CommandersYosh Nijman, PackersBrandon Parker, RaidersAndre Dillard, TitansChuma Edoga, Cowboys
Tyron Smith and Bakhtiari still have something worthwhile left here for the left side with their Pro Bowl pedigrees. Brown is a versatile option. Becton still has the potential to be a reliable starter.
Guards/centers
Kevin Zeitler, RavensConnor Williams, DolphinsDalton Risner, VikingsCody Whitehair, BearsAndrus Peat, SaintsLaken Tomlinson, JetsBrian Allen, RamsHalapoulivaati Vaitai, LionsMason Cole, SteelersTyler Shatley, JaguarsMark Glowinski, GiantsLucas Patrick, BearsMatt Feiler, Buccaneers
Zeitler has been solid for 75 percent of the AFC North. Williams can start well as an inside snapper. The rest are mostly fading backups for rotational depth.
Edge rushers
Chase Young, 49ersJadeveon Clowney, RavensMike Danna, ChiefsDerek Barnett, TexansRomeo Okwara, LionsYannick Ngakoue, BearsCharles Harris, LionsCarl Lawson, JetsRandy Gregory, 49ersEmmanuel Ogbah, Dolphins
Young and Clowney still have plenty of appeal as situational pass rushers and have been getting plenty of interest. There’s not much to see with the rest.
Defensive tackles
Calais Campbell, FalconsAustin Johnson, ChargersTaven Bryan, Colts
Teams in need of this position have snatched up the better tackles.
Linebackers
Tyus Bowser, RavensIsaiah Simmons, GiantsCody Barton, CommandersDenzel Perryman, TexansLeighton Vander Esch, Cowboys
With Tyrel Dodson and Devin White finding new homes, none of the rest are guaranteed to sign anywhere.
Cornerbacks
Steven Nelson, TexansStephon Gilmore, CowboysXavien Howard, DolphinsJ.C. Jackson, PatriotsAdoree’ Jackson, GiantsTre’Davious White, BillsPatrick Peterson, SteelersAvonte Maddox, EaglesC.J. Henderson, PanthersRock Ya-Sin, RavensLevi Wallace, Steelers
The names are bigger than the remaining games here, but there are a few plug-and-play veteran outside starters who will be picked up later.
Safeties
Justin Simmons, BroncosJamal Adams, SeahawksJulian Blackmon, ColtsEddie Jackson, BearsMarcus Maye, SaintsQuandre Diggs, SeahawksJayron Kearse, CowboysAdrian Amos, TexansMike Edwards, ChiefsKeanu Neal, SteelersNick Scott, BengalsTashaun Gipson, 49ersMicah Hyde, Bills
Simmons leads a group of once solid all-around options who can now provide only limited playmaking returns.
