Sorry, Patrick, your 40-yard dash isn’t getting forgotten anytime soon.

Three-time Super Bowl winner Patrick Mahomes is comfortably the best player in the NFL and has many years still ahead of him to win more.

The Kansas City Chiefs are well on their way to building a dynasty to rival the all-conquering New England Patriots with Tom Brady at quarterback.

However, there is something he wished he could airbrush from his record… his 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine.

Mahomes clocked a 4.80 when he was coming out of Texas Tech in 2017, a relatively slow time compared to some of his contemporaries.

That has not held him back, though, and has used his legs to deadly effect throughout his NFL career.

As the 2024 Combine got going, Patrick Mahomes made a plea and wrote on X: “As the combine starts this week! All I ask is that @nflnetwork doesn’t use my 40 overlay anymore.”

Unfortunately, he did not get his wish as they immediately used his 40 yard dash in an overlay… with a defensive lineman.

Florida State defensive tackle Branden Fiske ran an impressive 4.78, especially for someone who weighs 292lbs.

And fans on social media enjoyed the playful jibe at the serial Super Bowl champion.

Mahomes would rather forget his 40-yard dash

One wrote on social media: “NFL social team is on it.”

Another added: “Don’t mess with my QB!”

Mahomes himself also replied to the video, posting a meme of an angry child.

If Tom Brady’s combine highlights are anything to go by, they’ll still be used even after he has long retired.
