Minnesota Vikings star receiver Justin Jefferson remains limited with the hamstring injury that landed him on injured reserve, and the Vikings aren’t going to rush him back.
“We have urgency to win this football game,” head coach Kevin O’Connell said, per Mark Craig of the Star Tribune. “We’re just not going to allow that to distract us from the fact that we started out with some really strong principles in making sure Justin was at a good place and 100% healthy when he returns.”
A return for Monday night’s matchup with the Chicago Bears feels unlikely, though that shouldn’t stop this game from featuring plenty of scoring. The Vikings still have dual-threat quarterback Joshua Dobbs, Jordan Addison, T.J. Hockenson and Ty Chandler with whom to attack Chicago’s 29th-ranked scoring offense.
The Bears, meanwhile, have recently been getting solid play from quarterback Justin Fields when he’s been healthy. Over Fields’ last three complete games, Chicago has scored 28, 40 and 26 points.
Now’s a great time to jump on the over because if Jefferson is activated from IR, the line will rise significantly.
