The Green Bay Packers and quarterback Jordan Love are reportedly expected to engage in contract talks during the offseason.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Love and the Packers are likely negotiate during the spring, and it won’t be surprising if Green Bay signs him to a “massive, franchise quarterback-type contract extension.”

In this his first season as the Packers’ starting quarterback, Love led the Packers to a 9-8 record and a playoff berth, and they upset the second-seeded Dallas Cowboys 48-32 in the NFC Wild Card Round of the playoffs last weekend.
Green Bay shocked the football world in 2020 when it selected Love with the No. 26 overall pick in the NFL draft despite having future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers already on the roster.
Rodgers responded by winning back-to-back NFL MVP awards, but after a less-than-stellar 2022 season that saw the Packers miss the playoffs, the organization decided to trade Rodgers to the New York Jets and roll with Love as their starter.
Prior to the 2023 season, the Packers signed Love to a one-year $22.5 million contract extension through the 2024 campaign, per Spotrac.
The 25-year-old Love more than earned that extension with his play this season, as the Utah State alum completed 64.2 percent of his passes for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions during the regular season, while also rushing for 247 yards and four scores.
In last week’s playoff game against Dallas, Love was nearly perfect, going 16-of-21 for 272 yards, three touchdowns and no picks.
Including the playoff win, Love has led the Packers to a 7-2 record over the past nine weeks, throwing 21 touchdown passes and just one interception during that stretch.
Love seems to be following in Rodgers’ footsteps, as the Packers used a first-round pick on Rodgers when they still had Brett Favre and had Rodgers sit and learn behind Favre for three seasons before taking over the starting job.
As good as Rodgers was in his first season as a starter, the Packers went just 6-10 and missed the playoffs that year, so Love is already well ahead of that pace.
Given his age and production, Love is likely in line for a huge contract extension that could make him one of the NFL’s highest-paid quarterbacks already.
Love will undoubtedly have even more negotiating power if he can do the unexpected and lead the Packers to an upset win over the top-seeded San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional Round on Saturday night.
