The NFL’s first regular-season game in Brazil will feature a showdown between two of the league’s top quarterbacks.
Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers will play Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo, Brazil, on Sept. 6, per an announcement from the NFL.

There had been rumblings recently that the Packers were a strong choice to play the Eagles in Week 1.
Packers president Mark Murphy indicated the team was preparing as if it would be playing in Brazil. He also told reporters the Packers were “either the first- or second-most popular team” in the country.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced in February the Eagles had been selected to play the league’s first game in South America.
“This landmark first international game in South America demonstrates the ongoing expansion of our global footprint,” Goodell said. “Playing on Friday night of Week 1 is a unique way to highlight our international growth and ambitions.”
The Eagles will be considered the home team for this game. They are one of five clubs that have been designated as home teams for international games during the 2024 season, along with the Carolina Panthers (Munich, Germany), Jacksonville Jaguars (London, England), Chicago Bears (London) and Minnesota Vikings (London).
This will mark just the second international game for both the Eagles and Packers. They previously played in London. The Eagles defeated the Jaguars in 2018. Green Bay lost to the New York Giants in 2022.
The Packers-Eagles game will be the second contest of the 2024 regular season. The reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs will host the opening game on Sept. 5. Their opponent will be announced when the league releases the full schedule.
This will mark the NFL’s first Friday game during the opening week of the season since 1970 when the Los Angeles Rams hosted the St. Louis Cardinals at the Memorial Coliseum.
