American football star DJ Moore enjoyed learning about the history of Old Trafford, as he visited our home stadium while in Manchester last weekend.
The Chicago Bears receiver was across the pond to help deliver a local youth-football clinic to youngsters at the Platt Lane Sports Complex and had time during his trip to fit in a visit to the Theatre of Dreams with his family.
Moore and co were welcome guests as they toured our M16 base, which included the opportunity to visit the home dressing room and have photos taken by the pitch.

The 27-year-old proudly calls the storied Soldier Field – opened nearly 100 years ago – his home as a Bears player and is therefore no stranger to an iconic sporting arena.
It is something that he appreciates, telling club media that taking in Old Trafford’s heritage was an opportunity he was glad to have.
“At first I was like: ‘Dang, it’s a nice stadium.’ Then I really learned the stories behind it, so I’m loving it now,” Moore said, speaking to us while stood pitchside in M16.
“This opened in 1910 and Soldier Field was built around the same time so that’s historic in both regards. I’m glad I got the chance to come here and I’m glad I get to play in Chicago.”
Matches at Soldier Field have been a feature of United’s past pre-season trips to the States – the last one coming in 2015 – and while there is no visit to Chicago on this summer’s itinerary, Erik ten Hag’s Reds are set to play in front of our fans in three other US cities during Tour 2024.
After Los Angeles hosts our latest Stateside showdown with Arsenal (28 July), we’ll head to San Diego for a meeting with La Liga outfit Real Betis (1 August), before concluding the trip by going head-to-head with Liverpool in Columbia (4 August).

Ahead of those games, and our second successive Tour to the US, Moore also gave us a little insight into what he thinks we can expect from the crowds in his homeland.
“They’re going to be loud. They’re going to be supporting no matter what.”
