It is hard to buy into the Carolina Panthers’ potential interim head coach bump when they have been so bad in 2023.
Carolina has not scored more than 15 points in the five games since its Week 7 bye and it has not had a 300-yard game on offense during that stretch.
The Buccaneers may not be the most trustworthy team to bet on, either, as they come into Sunday with one win in their last seven games, but at least they can score. Baker Mayfield led the Bucs to 91 points over the last four weeks.
Tampa Bay was snakebit by turnovers in some of those games. It gave the ball away twice in each of the last two games and six times in the last four.
Carolina comes into Sunday without a takeaway in the last three games, so if Mayfield can keep the ball in his hands, it seems like Tampa Bay can put up a decent number on the Panthers.
Do not count out Tampa Bay’s playoff motivation in this contest as well. A win gets the Bucs within one game of the Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks in the wild-card race and it also keeps them alive in the NFC South with a road trip to Atlanta ahead in Week 14.
