NHL Skills Competition start time, channel, live streams, participants for All-Star weekend in Toronto

The 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend is reimagined with a new twist, thanks to a revamped Skills competition. 

This year, a select pool of 12 players will compete in a series of eight events, earning points along the way. At the end, the player with the most points will receive a grand prize of $1 million. 

The format is a byproduct of Edmonton forward Connor McDavid, who helped design the new-look competition alongside NHL senior VP and chief content officer Steve Mayer. 

McDavid is among the 12 All-Stars competing in the Skills competition, along with Tampa Bay forward Nikita Kucherov, Colorado forward Nathan MacKinnon and Toronto forward Auston Matthews, among others.

Date: Friday, Feb. 2 Time: 7 p.m. ET 

The 2024 NHL All-Star Skills competition will commence at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, February 2. The event will take place at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada. 

What channel is the 2024 All-Star Skills competition on?

Date: Friday, Feb. 2 TV channel: ESPN (US) | Sportsnet (Canada) Live streaming: ESPN+, Fubo

The 2024 NHL All-Star Skills competition will air live on ESPN across the United States. Viewers hoping to watch the event in Canada can do so on Sportsnet. 

The competition can also be streamed in the U.S. on Fubo, which offers a free trial. That way, you can try before you buy.

NHL All-Star Skills competition format 2024

A pool of 12 players will compete across a series of eight events as they vie for the grand prize of $1 million dollars. 

The players will compete in four of the first six events, earning points depending on what place they finish. The top eight players will then advance to the penultimate event, the NHL Shootout, where they will select a goalie to go up against. 

From there, the remaining top six players advance to the NHL Obstacle Course, where points are worth double. Upon conclusion of the NHL Obstacle Course, points will be tallied up and the winner will earn the prize.
