Nigerians abroad: Mixed fortunes for Super Eagles stars as Awoniyi, Dessers score; Success misses penalty; Awaziem, Onyeka lose

In the English Premier League, Frank Onyeka and Brentford fell flat at Anfield as Liverpool registered a dominating 3-0 win.

Meanwhile, Taiwo Awoniyi scored his fourth goal of the season, and Ola Aina added an assist, but Nottingham Forest fell short in a tough 3-2 defeat against West Ham United.

In Lithuania’s A Lyga, Samuel Adeyobo scored one of Hegelmann Litauen’s two consolation goals from the penalty spot in their 4-2 defeat away to Kauna Zalgiris.

Over to the Moldovan Super Liga, where David Ankeye was among the goals for Sheriff as they made light work of their hosts, Floreşti following a 4-0 win.

In France, Super Falcons defender Nicole Paye made her league debut for PSG during their 2-5 victory away to Dijon in the Feminine Division 1.

Over to Ligue 1, where Moses Simon scored the consolation goal for Nantes in their challenging 3-1 defeat against Metz.

In Germany, Nathan Tella celebrated his first Super Eagles call-up by scoring the final goal in Bayer Leverkusen’s dominant 4-0 win over struggling Union Berlin.

Victor Boniface, three-time Rookie Player of the Month winner, also featured for the Bundesliga leaders.

Samuel Adegbenro delivered a man-of-the-match performance as he scored both goals for Viking in their 2-1 triumph over Sarpsborg 08 in the Norwegian Eliteserien.

In Italy, Tyronne Ebuehi came off the bench to provide the assist for Viktor Kovalenko’s late winner as Empoli secured a shock 0-1 victory against Serie A champions Napoli.

Meanwhile, Isaac Success missed a penalty as Udinese settled for a 1-1 draw with Ademola Lookman’s Atalanta.

In the Dutch Eredivisie, Chuba Akpom was on the pitch for only a few seconds before scoring his third league goal for Ajax in their disappointing 2-2 draw with Almere City.

Over to the Scottish Premiership, where Cyriel Dessers continued his excellent form, finding the net for Rangers in their straightforward 0-2 victory away to Livingston.

Leon Balogun was also immense in defence to guide the Sky Blues to their second clean sheet in three league games.

In Slovakia’s Super Liga, Philip Azango was the hero for Spartak Trnava, scoring and assisting in their fine 0-2 win at FC Košice.

Chidozie Awaziem and Bruno Onyemaechi will report for international duty this week on the back of Boavista’s disappointing 1-3 home loss to Farense in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

In the Russian Premier League, Victor Moses was introduced after the break as Spartak Moscow claimed a hard-fought 2 – 1 win over Rostov.

Gift Monday and Esther Okoronkwo suffered a 3-1 defeat with UD Tenerife at the hands of Levante Las Planas in the Spanish Primera Division Femenina.

Sevilla, with Toni Payne playing a key role, returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Granada.

In Switzerland, Francis Momoh’s hattrick powered Grasshoppers to an entertaining 5-2 win at home against Stade-Lausanne-Ouchy.

Sunday Adetunji assisted Cukaricki’s sole strike during their slim 2-1 loss at high-flying Partizan in the Serbian Super Liga.

In South Africa’s PSL, Augustine Chidi Ikwem set the Mpumalanga Stadium on fire as he came off the bench to smash home the ten-minute hat-trick that propelled AmaZulu to a come-back 1-3 win away to Golden Arrows.

At the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Chibuike Ohizu was the match decider as he scored the winning goal for Sekhukhune United in their 2-1 triumph over SuperSport United.

In Turkey, Emmanuel Dennis continued his search for his first goal as Istanbul Basaksehir stumbled to a narrow 1-0 loss to Besiktas.

Bright Osayi-Samuel and Fenerbahce settled for a goalless draw against Adana Demirspor, securing enough points to reclaim the top spot in the league from Galatasaray, who were stunned 2-1 by Hatayspor.

In the Turkish second division, Kenneth Mamah assisted one of Göztepe’s consolation goals in their 3-2 defeat at Erzurumspor FK.
