Nigeria’s under-17 female team- the Flamingos will face Liberia in the final game of qualifiers for the 2024 under-17 World Cup, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Flamingos will be looking to clinch one of the three available tickets to the upcoming under-17 World Cup in the Dominican Republic later this year.
Nigeria has always dominated the African front, and that domination has continued this year. In the last round of the qualifiers, the team led by Bankole Olowookere put up a strong performance, demolishing Burkina Faso 7-1 over two legs.
The Flamingos played out a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Bamako, before finishing the job at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja last week.
Following that round of games that saw Nigeria qualify alongside Burundi, Kenya, Morocco, Zambia and Liberia, the Confederation of African Football have revealed the match-ups for the final round of games. The Flamingos have been pitched against West African neighbours Liberia.
Although Liberia defeated Senegal on away goals rule, Olowookere’s girls are overwhelming favorites because of their pedigree on the continent and the impressive results they have recorded so far.
The first leg will be played in Liberia on Friday, June 7, while the second leg will be played a week later in Nigeria.
