Number six loading? Barcelona star Oshoala, six Super Falcons stars get nominated for CAF POTY

Barcelona star Oshoala already has five awards in her kitty, but she may need to make space for more

Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala has been nominated for the CAF Player of The Year Award alongside Chiamaka Nnadozie, Rasheedat Ajibade, Toni Payne, Christy Ucheibe, Osinachi Ohale, and Uchenna Kanu, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Super Falcons had a remarkable year, as they got to the quarterfinals of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, and were very close to qualifying for the semifinals for the first time. But they were stopped in their tracks by a talented and robust England side.

At club level, some Super Falcons stars also excelled. Oshoala helped Barcelona to the UEFA Champions League title.

She also won the Laliga in outstanding fashion, recording 21 goals and three assists in 28 appearances.

Nnadozie was immense for her Paris FC side, as she helped them qualify for the Champions League group stage. Meanwhile, Ajibade has been very consistent for the Super Falcons. At club level, she had nine goals in 28 games for Atletico Madrid last season.

Toni Payne has also been a consistent player for Sevilla Women. She had three goals and four assists in 28 appearances for the club last season.

Ahead of the CAF awards night in Morocco this year, CAF have released the nominees for their awards and out of the 30 nominees for women’s player of the year, seven are from Nigeria
