New York City FC’s recent unbeaten run continued over a two-match week as Nick Cushing’s squad picked up six points out of a possible six in league play.
NYCFC extended their unbeaten run to five matches after blanking Orlando City 2-0 and Toronto FC 3-0 in a four day span. Five different players contributed goals for the Eastern Conference squad, while goalkeeper Matt Creese totaled six saves in a pair of clean sheets.
Monsef Bakrar and Talles Magno both scoring in last Wednesday’s 2-0 triumph over Orlando City, giving NYCFC an important three points against an Eastern Conference contender.
After seeing Saturday’s scheduled match postponed, NYCFC needed to only wait one day to defeat TFC 3-0 at Red Bull Arena. Andres Perea opened the scoring in the second minute before Andres Jasson and Julian Fernandez also found the back of the net.
NYCFC are currently occupying the final playoff spot in the East, sitting one point in front of DC United.

Here is a closer look at the rest of Week 27’s Best of MLS:
Player of the Week
Billy Sharp has provided a huge boost for the LA Galaxy since his arrival from Sheffield United and the Englishman was at it again this past week.
Sharp registered a hat trick in the Galaxy’s 4-3 home win over Minnesota United before he assisted once in Sunday’s 3-3 road draw with Austin FC. The 37-year-old now has six goals and one assist in seven league appearances for Greg Vanney’s men, picking up the slack in the attacking third.
The Galaxy are still five points out of the playoffs, but can climb back into things with Sharp’s continued production.
