The Carolina Panthers could have a new stadium in the future amid possible renovations to their current venue Bank of America Stadium.
Per WSOCTV’s Joe Bruno, city leaders are discussing giving the Panthers a new stadium, though it would be a long way down the road as Charlotte is eyeing 2046 as a possible date.
The report of a potential new stadium comes as the city debates whether to spend “hundreds of millions” to renovate Bank of America Stadium, which opened in 1996. Bank of America Stadium is currently home to the Panthers along with Charlotte FC.
According to Bruno, city leaders will begin negotiations about the new stadium with Tepper Sports and Entertainment by April 2037. Tepper is the current owner and operator of Bank of America Stadium.
Regarding the potential upcoming renovations, the city council is set to vote on a $650 million proposal for renovations. The upgrades would include new concourses, seats and a “park-like setting” around the stadium.

Since its conception in 1996, Bank of America Stadium has been expanded five times and has been renovated four times, most recently in 2021. The stadium currently holds 74,867 fans, making it the sixth-largest NFL stadium.
As the city debates whether or not to renovate the stadium, the Panthers are looking to renovate their team after posting a league-worst 2-15 record a season ago. Carolina hired former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dave Canales in January and is hoping he can help turn the franchise around after six consecutive years of missing the playoffs.
