Manchester City can win their second trophy of the season by beating Manchester United in the FA Cup final on Saturday.
The two sides travel to Wembley for their final game of the season, with plenty at stake for both sides.
United boss Erik ten Hag faces increasing pressure after an underwhelming season in charge at Old Trafford, while Pep Guardiola will be desperate to lift yet another trophy with his side after guiding them to a record fourth consecutive Premier League title last weekend.
In the meantime, City appear to have been handed a significant transfer boost.
As per Football Insider, West Ham United will not be able to stand in Manchester City’s way if the Premier League champions look to sign Lucas Paqueta this summer.
The midfielder is said to have an £85 million release clause in his current contract, and City will therefore have a clear path to sign the Brazilian if they activate it.
Paqueta, 26, has planed an integral role for the Hammers since joining the club from Lyon in 2022.
In total he has played 84 times for West Ham, but his impressive displays have attracted interest from elsewhere.
The Brazil international’s current deal doesn’t expire until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, but the East London outfit will be powerless to stop Paqueta leaving if City do activate his release clause.
It is claimed that City have already agreed personal terms with Paqueta, who they have identified as a potential replacement for current midfielder Bernardo Silva, who could leave the club this summer.
The Portuguese has been heavily linked with a departure from the Etihad in each of the past two summer transfer windows, and is said to have a £50 million release clause in his new contract.
