Pitch invader tries to take selfie with Cristiano Ronaldo before being dragged away by security

Cristiano Ronaldo was hounded by a fan who ran on the pitch and tried to take a selfie with the footballing legend.

The 38-year-old, who stars for Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr, returned to international duty with Portugal, who trounced Bosnia-Herzegovina 5-0.

He scored two goals in their Euro 2024 qualifying win against Slovakia on Friday to secure their qualification for next year’s tournament.

Ronaldo started once again for his country three days later and got himself another brace on Monday night.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner got both of his goals in the first half, his first a penalty and the second a composed chip over the goalkeeper.

In the 38th minute of the match, one fan could be seen on the side of the pitch and creeping up behind Ronaldo.

The fan then appeared to hold out a phone in an attempt to get a picture with the star as the referee paused play.

Stewards were quick to take action and briskly took the fan away from Ronaldo, who crouched over after the incident.

It comes just three days after the victory over Slovakia when a young fan also ran onto the pitch to get a selfie with him.

Ronaldo didn’t seem too fazed by the youngster that time though as he shook his hand and took the picture.

Despite being in the twilight stages of his career, he has now taken his Portugal goal tally to 127 in 203 appearances.

Bruno Fernandes, Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix were also on the scoresheet in Portugal’s thumping win.
