The new electric Porsche Macan is arguably the most important car the company has launched in years – the one that’ll sit in the most profitable, competitive market segment as the company bets heavily on EVs.
We’ve already seen it in its 630bhp, YouTube-drag-race-bait Turbo form, as well as the Macan 4, the entry-level dual-motor version that everyone’s actually going to buy. Now, Porsche’s added a couple more versions to the range, including the one most people probably should buy.

That’ll be the new single-motor, rear-wheel drive car, simply called the Macan. Starting from £67,200, it undercuts the Macan 4 by a couple of grand and makes 335bhp. That’s enough for a 0-62mph sprint of 5.7 seconds – really not too far off the Macan 4’s 5.2 seconds, although that’s only with launch control active. It’ll also hit a top speed of 137mph.
Its biggest advantage, though, is range – an official WLTP figure of 398 miles plays the Macan 4’s 381. That’s because, despite using the same 100kWh battery as the 4, it’s some 110kg lighter.

Also joining the range is a third four-wheel drive version, the 4S. Sitting between the 4 and Turbo, it’ll deliver 442bhp and 605lb ft of torque with launch control active, which propels it to 62mph in 4.1 seconds. It gets a quoted range of 376 miles and will run you £75,400.
‘This all sounds good,’ you might be thinking, ‘but what if I want my Macan to look a little bit like an off-roader?’ You’re covered there, too, because Porsche’s also launched an Off-Road Design Package. This adds some Audi Allroad-style cladding to the bumpers and sills, which do bring a genuine improvement to approach angle, bringing it up to 17.4mm. The air suspension also sits 10mm higher than normal in its standard setting.

Both new models are available now and set to be delivered later in 2024, when owners will also be invited to spend the day larking about in their new car at Porsche’s Silverstone Experience Centre.
