PSG and Barcelona chase £75m rated Diaz

PSG and Barca keen on Diaz

The Telegraph believes that Liverpool may consider selling winger Luis Diaz as he is yet to agree a new contract with the club.

Two clubs – Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona – are linked with the Colombian but the asking price is £75 million.

The paper states: “Liverpool and their winger Luis Díaz face a crossroads this summer with a decision on whether to extend the Colombian’s contract or sell him, given interest from Paris St-Germain and others in the player.

“Díaz, 27, has been a resounding success at Liverpool since arriving from Porto for around £37.5 million in the January 2022 window. He shares an agent, Raul Costa, with one of the potential successors to Jürgen Klopp, Ruben Amorim. Costa is understood to have travelled to Britain recently to visit his client on Merseyside.

“Unusually for a signing who has had two strong years at the club, Díaz is yet to agree a contract extension to replace the original which he signed on his arrival. He will still be contracted for three years come the end of the season, although it is likely at that point it will be necessary for both parties to decide whether he stays for the long term or moves on.

“PSG are understood to be one interested club, and also Barcelona although given their financial situation it could be hard for the Catalan club to offer Liverpool the kind of fee they might be seeking. Díaz is rated at around £75 million by Liverpool.”

Amorim won’t hurry for Liverpool job

Ruben Amorim is in no rush to take a job at Liverpool, according to the Mirror.

The Sporting Lisbon manager is focused on his current club, Sporting Lisbon, but a £12 million release clause is appealing to Liverpool.

The paper writes: “Ruben Amorim will not be distracted from guiding Sporting Lisbon to the double.

“Liverpool have made the Sporting boss their prime target to succeed Jurgen Klopp this summer but no agreement has been reached and the recruitment process is ongoing. Sources in Portugal are convinced that Amorim will take the next step in his career at the end of the season but Sporting are four points clear at the top of the Portuguese league and have also reached their domestic cup final.

“It could end up being a spectacular farewell for Amorim who is regarded as one of Europe’s best young coaches who has also attracted strong interest from Barcelona. His style of play, development of players and bringing through young stars are key reasons why Amorim appeals to Liverpool. It is believed Amorim has a £12m release clause.”

Felipe Anderson set for Juve switch

Lazio winger Felipe Anderson is linked with a free transfer to Juventus when his contract expires this summer.

The 30-year-old former West Ham player can move for nothing this summer, with Massimiliano Allegri’s side seemingly keen.

“Former West Ham winger Felipe Anderson is set to sign for Juventus,” The Sun reports.

“The Brazilian forward, 30, is expected to bring his second stint with Lazio to an end in the summer when his contract expires.

“He has scored 56 goals and provided 63 assists in 318 games across his two spells with the Serie A side.

“Anderson spent three years on West Ham’s books, the last of which was spent on loan at Porto.”

Eintracht Frankfurt may clinch Van de Beek signing

The Daily Mail believes that Donny van de Beek could yet stay on at Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Dutch midfielder is on loan in Germany from Manchester United and they may yet choose to make the deal permanent.

The paper writes: “Donny van de Beek’s frustrating career post-Ajax has continued during his loan spell with Eintracht Frankfurt, but Confidential understands the prospect of him remaining there is not off the table completely just yet.

“Sources close to the Bundesliga side insist no decision has been made yet on whether to make Van de Beek’s loan permanent and any such discussions have been placed on hold until the end of the campaign.

“The Dutchman has made just four starts in the Bundesliga, coming on in a further two matches and being left as an unused substitute in another six.

“Frankfurt have £10.3m option-to-buy built into the loan and while there is some pessimism in United circles that that will be enacted, sources in Germany stressed that it is not already a foregone conclusion that he will return to England.”
