No. 1 Purdue and No. 2 Tennessee are set to face off in an Elite Eight showdown between two teams hungry to reach the Final Four.
The Boilermakers have only made two Final Four appearances in school history, over four decades since their last. The Volunteers have never made a Final Four, only appearing in their second Elite Eight in school history.
Purdue handled No. 5 Gonzaga to reach this stage, while Tennessee survived a hard-fought battle against No. 3 Creighton.
All-Americans lead both teams in a matchup headlined by Purdue star center Zach Edey and Tennessee star forward Dalton Knecht. Boilermakers head coach Matt Painter and Volunteers head coach Rick Barnes both have a history of NCAA Tournament shortcomings, but one will emerge as a semifinalist Sunday.
As a thrilling contest between two programs long overdue to get over the hump unfolds, The Sporting News has you covered with live updates, highlights and more below.
