PWHL Minnesota inks first-overall pick Taylor Heise to contract

PWHL Minnesota has inked first-overall pick of September’s draft Taylor Heise to a contract. The terms of the contract have not been disclosed.

Heise, 23, is a native of Lake City, Minn., and played hockey for the University of Minnesota, where she won the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Trophy in 2022 given to the best women’s hockey player in the NCAA. In that year, she led the NCAA in goals (29) and ranked second in points (65) in 37 games.

The forward has also won a gold and silver at the Women’s World Championships with the U.S. senior national team. She was named best forward and tournament MVP when the U.S. won silver in 2022.

Heise now official joins fellow national team teammates Kendall Coyne Schofield, Kelly Pannek and Lee Secklein on the Minnesota roster.
