Rashee Rice accident: Latest updates on Dallas police search for Chiefs WR after multi-car crash

Dallas police are searching for Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice in connection with a major multi-vehicle accident Saturday evening in northeast Dallas, The Dallas Morning News reported Sunday.

A vehicle believed to be registered or leased to Rice was involved in a collision on North Central Expressway.

Six vehicles were involved in the crash, which officials say stemmed from two cars — a Chevrolet Corvette and Lamborghini — losing control after speeding through the far left lane of the highway.

Here’s what you need to know about Rice’s suspected involvement in the accident.

Dallas police are looking for Rice in connection with the crash, per a police call sheet obtained by the Dallas Morning News. His involvement in the incident is unclear, though the call sheet listed him as the suspected driver of the Corvette.

Rice, 23, did not appear in Dallas County jail records as of Sunday morning, and it remains unknown if police intend to press any charges, the Dallas Morning News reported.

The collision took place at around 6:20 p.m. local time (7:20 p.m. ET) Saturday. Preliminary investigations indicated that a driver in a Chevrolet Corvette and a driver in a Lamborghini were speeding in the far left lane when both lost control of their vehicles, a Dallas police spokesperson said.

The Lamborghini drove onto the shoulder and hit the center median wall, which then caused “a chain reaction collision involving four other vehicles,” the spokesperson said.

The occupants of the Corvette and the Lamborghini reportedly ran from the crash site without providing any information or checking to see if anyone needed medical support, per the police spokesperson.

Two drivers were treated for minor injuries at the crash site, while another two people were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Rice is a Texas native, growing up in North Richland Hill — a 30-minute drive from the heart of Dallas’ city center. He spent his college career at SMU, establishing himself as one of the Mustangs’ best-ever pass-catchers — he ranks fifth in program history in receiving yards (3,111) and receiving touchdowns (25).

In 2023, the Chiefs selected Rice in the second round of the NFL Draft. He enjoyed a successful rookie season, falling just short of the 1,000-yard mark as Kansas City marched to a Super Bowl victory. He finished the season as the league’s second-leading rookie receiver.
