Nigeria star Stanley Nwabali has responded to speculation linking him with Kaizer Chiefs.
Breakout Africa Cup of Nations star and Nigeria international Stanley Nwabali has responded to reports linking him with a possible move to DStv Premiership giants Kaizer Chiefs.
The Super Eagles goalkeeper has already impressed in South Africa’s top division for Chippa United this season with his shot-stopping ability.
The 27-year-old has the third most clean sheets in the top flight (seven shutouts), but has taken his reputation to the next level with his performances for his country at the continental showpiece.
After Equatorial Guinea’s Iban Salvador put the ball past him in Nigeria’s opening game at the tournament, Nwabali has kept four successive clean sheets to help his nation go all the way to the semi-finals of Africa’s biggest football competition.
While a number of top clubs around the world are rumoured to have taken notice of his displays in the Ivory Coast, Kaizer Chiefs continue to be linked with his services.

After helping the Super Eagles defeat Angola in their AFCON quarter-final on Friday, KickOff asked Nwabali if a move to Naturena is something he would like for his career, to which he responded: “I’m not a manager and you are also not a manager, so no.
“I don’t love any club. I only know about Chippa United, I don’t want to focus on club matters right now.”
While he may not be keen on paying attention to his club situation at this moment in time, Wednesday evening will likely feel a little bit like a Premier Soccer League game to him as the three-time African champions will face South Africa in the semi-finals in Bouake.
It will be the first time since 2000 that the teams will meet at this stage of competition, and Nwabali and his teammates be hoping history repeats itself, with the west Africans having won 2-0 on that previous occasion courtesy of a Tijani Babangida brace.
