Snl24 | Chiefs cement Diski top spot with big win

Kaizer Chiefs 4-0 Stellenbosch FC

Kaizer Chiefs jumped to the top of the DStv Diski Challenge table with a commanding 4-0 victory over Stellenbosch FC at the Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday.

Chiefs were dominant from the start and in fact took a two-lead at the break with Donay Jansen Siphesihle Tati on strike.

The Amakhosi continued to hold the fort following the interval and added two more goals courtesy of Neo Bohloko before Jansen entered to bag a brace and furthermore record a comfortable victory for the Soweto giants.

Moroka Swallows 1-2 Mamelodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns got their second win of the season and closed-in on the early front-runners after seeing off Moroka Swallows 2-1 on the road.

Goals from Keabetswe Ramotsei and Kutlwano Letlhaku got the job done for the Brazilians despite the Dube Birds attempt of a comeback.

As mentioned earlier, the victory elevated Masandawana to the top-half bracket whilst the defeat leaves the Dube Birds down in the bottom-half slot.

Richards Bay FC 3-1 Cape Town City

Richards Bay snapped a run of three successive losses to record their first win of the season in a 3-1 victory over Cape Town City.

Thulani Gumede, Asimbonge Mdunge and Ndonelo Bomelo’s late effort in the second half guided the Natal Rich Boys to their first maximum points of the campaign.

Orlando Pirates 3-0 Polokwane City

Orlando Pirates continued their strong start to the DStv Premiership campaign with a comfortable 3-0 drubbing off Polokwane City at the Rand Stadium on Sunday morning.

Joseph Makhanya’s outfit were two goals up at halftime, as Manelis Mazibuko and a penalty from Mehluleli Maphumulo gave the new boys a mountain to climb for the duration of the match.

Pirates didn’t take the foot of the accelerator following the break and rounded up the contest when Mpumelelo Ndaba netted the third as matters drew to a close.

SuperSport United 2-2 Golden Arrows

Defending champions SuperSport United remained winless after playing to 2-2 draw against Golden Arrows at the TUT Stadium.

United trailed the visitors in the 15th minute after a finish from Sbusiso Mtshali broke the deadlock, but the lead was cancelled 15 minutes later when Muzi Mahlangu brought the host level.

Matsatsantsa seized the initiative inside the midway quarter of the second half with a strike from the boot of Thabang Makhubo leaving Abafana Besthende to chase the game.

However, the boys from the KwaZulu-Natal province bounced back and snatched a point through Sanele Gumede to leave both sides winless from four matches played.

Cape Town Spurs 7-0 AmaZulu

Cape Town Spurs got back to winning ways in fine style and showed AmaZulu no mercy with a resounding 7-0 drubbing.

The Urban Warriors were in mean mood right from the first and took a four-goal lead at halftime before adding a further three goals following the interval.

Usuthu slumped to the bottom of the table following this horror defeat, while the Urban Warriors climb in to seventh spot on the table.

Royal AM 2-2 Sekhukhune United

Royal AM surrendered top spot after coming from behind to force a 2-2 draw against Sekhukhune United in a top-half battle.

It was a strong start from both teams, which had goals on either side before Babina Noko went to break in the ascendancy.

Thwihli Thwahla, though, came back in the second half and salvaged a point to remain in the top-three tied and level points with Babina Noko in fourth-place.

TS Galaxy 2-1 Chippa United

TS Galaxy recorded back-to-back wins following a 2-1 victory over Chippa United to be amongst five teams tied on ten points in the top-five bracket.

With the match initially schedule for Saturday but postponed due to unforeseen circumstances, the clash got underway as both teams chased maximum points.

In the end, it was the Rockets that got over the line and surged to fifth place tied on points with the leaders Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, Royal AM and Sekhukhune United.
