Former Kaizer Chiefs defender David Obua has landed his first managerial role as head coach in the Ugandan Premier League.
The former left-back was confirmed on Thursday as the new head coach of Uganda Revenue Authority (nicknamed The Tax Collectors).

“We are delighted to announce the appointment of David Obua as the New head coach of the club on a one-year contract,” the club wrote in a statement published on X (formerly Twitter).
“He will be assisted by Peter Byaruhanga Adyeri as first assistant coach, Fred Muhumuza (2nd Assistant Coach), Robert Mukasa (3rd Assistant Coach), Ilic Milos (Fitness Coach), Byron Okuba (Strength and conditioning Coach), Swaibu Ssebagala (Goalkeeping Coach), Joseph Lubega (Doctor), Isaac Ngondwe (Physio), Luggya Ronald (Kits Manager), Bosco Otim (Assistant Kits Manager).

Obua replaces Sam Timbe who sadly passed on in August while Assistant coach, Fred Muhumuza has been at the helm on an interim basis.
More locally, the left-back played for Kaizer Chiefs between 2005 and 2008, a period in which he made 39 appearances for the Soweto Giants.

The left-footer also turned out for Raleigh Capital Express Police FC, Wilmington Hammerheads and perhaps his most memorable spell with Heart of Midlothian in the Scottish Premier League where he made 91 appearances between 2012 and his retirement from professional football in 2016.
Obua will officially lead his side from the dugout when URA take on Kitara in the Ugandan Premier League on Friday, 10 November. Kick-off is at 15:00 (SA time).
