Kaizer Chiefs defender Njabulo Ngcobo has addressed reports previously linking him with a move away from Naturena and opened up on struggles to replicate the form that won him the DStv Premiership Defender of the Season.
Signed from Moroka Swallows after a standout season, Ngcobo has struggled to replicate his form in Amakhosi colours, making 15 appearances in his first season at Naturena and 14 in his season.

It was unsurprising that the central defender was linked with a move away from the Soweto giants at the end of the 2022/23 campaign, with Chiefs having swiftly concluded deals for Given Msimango and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe as priority signings.
However, Ngcobo is understood to have decided to stay and fight for his place.
Speaking to media at a community outreach event where Chiefs and sponsor Vodacom donated school shoes in Tembisa, Ngcobo opened up for the first time about his place at Chiefs.
“For me, I think because I’m still here, then it’s still good,” the centre-back said.
“I don’t have any regrets over why I choose to come to Chiefs. I think I’m at the right team to grow and move forward. As a boy that comes from the rurals, it takes us quite a while to get here. I think it won’t be long until the old days return.
“I think for me, especially, it’s been out learning each day,” Ngcobo added, on rediscovering the form that made him the top defender in the league.
“Playing for a big team like Kaizer Chiefs, you have to learn a lot of things, little by little until you get them. Right now, I’m starting to see where the road is headed, so I think I will get back to the level I was at Swallows.

Ngcobo has made 10 appearances for Amakhosi in the current campaign, more than he had made at the halfway stage in his first two seasons.
However, ‘Roadblock’ still faces stiff competitions for a places at Chiefs following the arrival of 2021/22 PSL Young Player of the Season Luke Fleurs at the Village.
Chiefs return to competitive action when they host TS Galaxy on 13 February at FNB stadium.
