What next for Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana after his failed move to Wydad Casablanca?
In the aftermath of Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana’s failed to Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca suffering a stillbirth, new options are being explored.
Bimenyimana travelled to Morocco where he was hoping to seal a transfer to Wydad following revelations that a transfer in the region of USD150 000 (R2,7 million) had been discussed.

This was after Chiefs made it no secret that they were open to the option of selling the 25-year-old despite that he had been the club’s top goal scorer in the league with seven goals from 17 appearances last season.
It has become clear that AmaKhosi don’t have the towering striker in their plans this season having already brought in Ranga Chivaviro to lead the frontline.
Bimenyimana’s signing at the beginning of last season was a thorny matter at the club with the head coach Arthur Zwane having initially indicated that the club wasn’t keen before a spectacular turn of events.
Fast forward to a year later there are still burning issues around the Burundian.
Wydad’s new coach Adil Ramzi has turned down the option to bring in Bimenyimana despite the striker having travelled to Casablanca last week in a bid to seal the deal which involved a former professional player now working as an agent.
Ramzi – who wants to have control of transfers – expressed his reservations about Bimenyimana especially the fact that five of his eight goals were penalties.
At the other end, the club has kept Bouly Junior Sambou who was linked with a move away to Europe.
The Senegalese striker scored 20 goals in 41 appearances last season in what was his first season at the club.
For now, Bimenyimana has returned to Chiefs and the option of a loan move is being discussed after earlier proposals to terminate failed.
The Burundian knows his services are not a priority at Naturena and needs an immediate move though he still has a year remaining on his contract.
Wydad kick-off their Arab Club Champions Cup on Thursday afternoon against Al Sadd from Qatar.
