The 56-year-old mentor is under no illusions about the task of knocking out the DStv Premiership champions and remained non-committal when asked if he would utilise any inside information from his time with the Brazilians.
“I have the understanding of how we (during his time with Sundowns) used to play,” Komphela responded.
“Currently there is a slight tweak (in how Sundowns play this season) but it is not far away from the principles that have been planted since the previous season and again, they are people (players) that are very much used to the system, they are very much old in the system, they have belief.
“Before you move to a level of belief, because after belief you have faith right? but when you come back from faith, that I know this thing even with my eyes closed, I trust this process, it has been tested many times, then you would have believed in it.
“So, they (Sundowns) are now at a state of faith and everyone else: Sundowns supporters, even everyone that is following the league has faith, even people who bet have faith that Sundowns will win.
“But before faith you have belief, there is that belief which was built from the confidence but from that confidence there has to be a trust.
“You can never be trusted before you have been tested. So Sundowns have been tested they have passed that test.
“Now, if you ask yourself where is Moroka Swallows? we are still at the state of trust but we don’t want to stay at the perpetual state of trust, we will use this opportunity to see how far we can grow.
