THE Carletonville family violence and child protectio nunit (FCS) is appealing to members of the public to assist them with the whereabouts of a man wanted for questioning in a rape case.
This is after a woman was raped in Khutsong after having fun with a friend at a tavern.
According to the police, on Saturday, 7 January, at about 9pm, the victim alleged that she went to a tavern at extension 5 in Khutsong, where she met her friend.
The statement issued by the police said the two women sat and enjoyed drinks until the morning at about 2am when the tavern was closing.
“They decided to leave, and while walking home, her friend asked her to accompany her to her place of residence to fetch a jersey. While walking in extension 4 they met two men, one known to her friend and offered to borrow her friend a jersey. They all agreed to go to the man’s place, where he gave a jersey to her friend,” said Captain Solomon Sibiya.
Sibiya said that a few minutes later, the victim’s friend and the known man to her friend went to a nearby tavern to buy liquor, leaving the victim and another male behind.

“Whilst her friend and the man were away, the man whom she was left with started advancing for sexual favours, but she refused. The man allegedly locked the door and drew a knife. He threatened the victim and started to undress her. He thereafter raped her. The man later went to the bathroom, and that is when the victim managed to escape through the window,” added Sibiya.
After escaping, the victim ran home and on arrival, related the incident to her sister.
The police are urging anyone with information which can lead to the whereabouts of this man pictured here must immediately call the Carletonville FCS investigation officer Sargent Gaobonwe on 076 371 0304 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
