An alleged arsonist was caught camera pouring what seems like an inflammable liquid in one of the trucks on Wednesday.
AN alleged arsonist was caught on a dash camera pouring what appeared to be flammable liquid inside one of the trucks before setting it on fire in Mpumalanga on Wednesday, 12 July.
In a video making the rounds on social media, the driver of the truck can be seen sitting inside the truck and minutes later exchanging words with a man who asks him to open the door.
The man asks him if he refuses to get out, to which the driver replies, “I’m not refusing”.

The alleged suspect got into the truck holding a plastic from which he took a small bottle containing a flammable liquid. He drove the truck while taking the small bottle from the plastic bag. He poured the liquid into the back of the truck and then set it on fire.
The incident is said to have occurred at about 5am in Sheepmoor between Piet Retief and Ermelo, Mpumalanga.
According to police, it’s alleged that people emerged from the roadside near the N2 toll road, approached the trucks with firearms and told the drivers to get out or they would set them on fire. The drivers then got out and ran away. The trucks were then set on fire.
Three trucks were torched, while one truck burnt only in the cabin. A passenger, a woman, suffered burns to her feet as she was allegedly asleep in one of the trucks. She was taken for medical attention by the EMS vehicle.
Mpumalanga police spokesman Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said police do not yet know about the video.
“The police are still busy with the investigation,” he said.
