Club captain and South African football legend Itumeleng Khune is determined to deliver silverware for Kaizer Chiefs before hanging up his gloves.
When his contrac expired at the end of last season, Amakhosi opted to hand Khune a one-year extension, a deal the club said would be the shot stopper’s final one at Chiefs as a player.

Although 36 and now at the twilight of a decorated career, Khune insists he still has the hunger and is aiming to deliver at least one more trophy to club chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung.
“I think the hunger, the hunger keeps me going,” Khune said at the club’s Heart on Sleeve CSI initiative at Kaizer Chiefs Village.
“I had an opportunity to play for one of the biggest clubs on the continent. It was the club e were supporting at home and when I got the opportunity I didn’t want to think twice.
“I didn’t want to disappoint the Chairman, I didn’t want to disappoint the board of directors, I didn’t want to disappoint anyone associated with this circle.
“So I had to focus throughout my career to achieve as much as I can an I’m happy that I’ve been able to achieve all of that.
“I’m continuing to show the same the same hunger, because before I retire I want to go and present a trophy to the chairman and the board and I want to lift smiles on the faces of the Kaizer Chiefs faithful.”
Khune has made just two appearances for Chiefs this season and will be aiming to return to the starting eleven when Amakhosi take on AmaZulu at FNB Stadium on Saturday. Kick-off is at 18:00.
