RESIDENTS in Waterloo, KZN were sleeping when they were suddenly awoken by gunshot sounds.
This occurred because a man was being shot at. The man was gunned down while seated in his car on Amaqhawe Road in Phase 6, Waterloo, on Friday night, 28 June.
A resident, who asked not to be named, said she was already sleeping when the loud gunshot sounds woke her up.
“The shooters fired several shots at the man. I knew that he wasn’t going to survive,” the resident stated.
Another resident mentioned that the man who was killed wasn’t from the area, and they didn’t know who he was.
The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) spokesman, Prem Balram, said residents contacted RUSA after they made the discovery.

“Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and arrived on the scene at approximately 8 pm,” he explained.
He reported that the officers discovered the body of a man in a grey VW Golf.
“The man sustained a gunshot wound to his head and died on the scene. The rear passenger glass and door were shot. Three spent 9mm cartridges were recovered outside the vehicle,” he added.
He noted that the motive for the execution has not been confirmed.
The KZN police spokeswoman, Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo, confirmed the matter, stating that police in Verulam are investigating a case of murder following an incident in which a man was allegedly shot and killed at Waterloo on 28 June 2024.
