Snl24 | No FIFA ban escape for TS Galaxy, but…
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Tim Sukazi's club will be without all their new signings if they don't settle their bill of R1,8 million this week.

Tim Sukazi’s club will be without all their new signings if they don’t settle their bill of R1,8 million this week.

The latest FIFA transfer ban list has confirmed that TS Galaxy remain restricted from registering new players.

This leaves Galaxy facing the risk of not being able to use any of the new signings that they have made when they come up against Stellenbosch FC in the MTN8 quarterfinals at Danie Craven Stadium on Sunday (August 4).

The Tim Sukazi-owned club has signed Seth Osei (Hapoel Kfar Saba, Israel), Victor Letsoalo (AmaZulu FC), Ntiyiso Bombi (Baroka), Qobolwakhe Sibande (Stellenbosch), Thamsanqa Masiya (Sekhukhune United), Jegbay Morris (Mighty Barolle, Liberia), Siphesihle Maduna (Cape Town Spurs), Khulumani Ndamane (Kaizer Chiefs) and Emmanuel Seih (Watanga FC, Liberia).

They also have Ivorian keeper Ira Tape Eliezer earmarked as replacement for Fiacre Ntwari, who has moved to Kaizer Chiefs.

According to the latest FIFA registrations ban listing, none of these players can be registered until the club settles their outstanding issue with Ivorian striker Bernard Yao Kouassi.

Galaxy have a three-window ban (since June 12) relating to a contract dispute involving USD98 000 (approx. R1,8 million) that must now be paid to Kouassi.

The case reached the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), where FIFA’s ruling was upheld, leaving Sukazi to accept defeat and confirm that they will have to make the payment.

This website was also told that as of Monday morning, July 29, Galaxy had still not made any payment to the Ivorian, who is now due to play his football in the Zambian Super League after moving from Rivers United in Nigeria.

Without confirmed receipt of the payment into Kouassi’a account, Galaxy will be frozen from making new registrations with the PSL, who have been instructed by FIFA (via SAFA) to place a restriction.

Later on Monday afternoon, this website was told that Galaxy had made contact indicating their desire to make payment, giving a clear hint of their intention to settle the matter this week.

Kouassi signed with Galaxy on January 17, 2023 but left bitter without playing after he wasn’t registered, which led to him filing a case with FIFA.

Prior to approaching the world governing body, Kouassi had asked for two months’ salary to settle the matter but will now get a lot more, including the 5% per annum interest on the bill.

JDR Stars and Richards Bay FC have also paid their dues in recent weeks, which have led to FIFA lifting their bans.

Meanwhile, Royal AM remain in the freezer in matters relating to Samir Nurkovic and Ricardo Nascimento.

Nurkovic’s matter – which involves millions of rands with an annual 5% interest charged – has dragged to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), where a second deadline of September 13 has been placed for the issuing of the decision.

Nascimento’s case is also hanging.
