MPUMALANGA police have recovered a Toyota Corolla that was stolen in the Eastern Cape in 2010.

The suspect driving it is set to appear in court on Monday, 26 February.
“A 31-year-old South African male is expected to appear before the Amsterdam Magistrates Court on Monday, 26 February, for possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.

“The suspect was arrested by the joint Task Team members of Nerston and Mahamba border policing at Nerston Port of Entry today, Saturday, 24 February 2024,” he said.
Magoseni said the cops were still investigating.
“It was reported that when the task team members were doing vehicle verification on the white Toyota Corolla, it transpired that the vehicle identification number (VIN) on the license disk did not correspond with the VIN on the vehicle’s body.
“Further investigation was conducted, and the outcome indicated that the vehicle was reported stolen in Komani (Queenstown) in the Eastern Cape province in December 2010. The vehicle’s driver was arrested, hence his court appearance on Monday. Police can’t rule out possibilities of adding another charge of theft of motor vehicle pending investigation,” he said.
