TSHWANE All White Festival and Team R5 honoured the late Vusi Ma R5 during the event which was held at Mzansi Resort in Mabopane, north of Tshwane on Saturday, 16 December.

Team R5 member and Vusi MaR5’s brother, Koketso “DJ Cooper” Mosoeu said this is the first time they have the festival without Vusi MaR5, whose real name was Itumeleng Mosoeu.

“His presence is still missed, but his spirit is with us,” he said.

He said his brother loved people, used to crack jokes and would even throw money into the crowd.

“This was a way of thanking fans, especially those who surround the stage. We are still keeping the fans and the team intact. We will continue to keep his legacy alive,” he said.

Sbu Ndengese real name, Sibusiso Mahlangu said they will continue to honour the festival, and it’s a great journey.

Vusi MaR5 died on 30 January 2023 in Soshanguve and Team R5 said they will continue to pay tribute to him.

“Noone can replace him and we miss him every day. It helps us to push more,” he said.

Tshwane All White Festival event manager, Tebogo Manganye said Vusi MaR5 was always part of the event and this was the first time they hosted the festival without him.

“He is the king of barcadi and he died in his prime. We feel sad and we had to console the family by giving them his portrait,” he said.

He said they are celebrating the 20 year anniversary of the festival. “Our lineup was fresh and new,” he said.

Fans danced along to the music of Lwah Ndlunkulu, Dr Joe Shirimani and Big Zulu.
