A SHOCKING revelation emerged during the funeral service for Neo Khang (4) and Leon Jele (6), who tragically died after allegedly consuming biscuits bought from a foreign-owned spaza shop on Sunday, 1 October.
According to Neo Khang’s neighbour, Lereko Molapise, carbamate (aliphirimi) was allegedly found in the content of his stomach.
Lereko made these claims during the funeral service which was held at Naledi Hall in Soweto on Wednesday, 11 October.
Lereko said: “The family couldn’t come into a conclusion with the pathologist. When I asked what the contents in the stomach were, I was told it’s still going to be under investigation. They will do a toxicology report and it can take up to a year. I then asked what they will write in the death certificate, and I was told they’ll write that it was still under investigation. I stood my ground and refused,”
He explained that they went straight to the mortuary and when they arrived, he was spitting flames.

“I walked in very curious and refused to take the remains until we know what toxin or foreign substance they found in Neo’s stomach context. I wanted to know the cause of death,” said Lereko.
He said the post-mortem states that the death was unnatural.
“The BI report that I got from Diepkloof mortuary stated that there were traces of carbamate in the system. The investigation will be handled by law enforcement regarding this matter. From here going forward, the mortuary will forward the report to the toxicology for a detailed analysis,” said Lereko.
The Khang family representative, Thabiso Malegase, remembered Neo as a child who had a beautiful smile, even when he was sad.
