THE late Zoleka Mandela’s cousin, Mandla, has finally spoken out after facing backlash from Mzansi.
This after he attended her funeral when he was allegedly not supposed to. Zoleka had allegedly written a list of people she did not want at her funeral and he was on it.
The funeral was held in Bryanston on Friday, 29 September and Daily Sun took a video of him walking into the funeral. The viral video had people upset and asking why he didn’t respect Zoleka’s wish.
Speaking on the matter, he released a statement and said: “It is extremely unfortunate that my cousin sister’s last rites were mired by this unsavoury behaviour and that serious allegations of this nature could be bandied about so irresponsibly.
“We call on all family and friends to restore respect and dignity and to let Zoleka rest in peace,” he wrote.

Mandla also left the funeral earlier than the rest of the family. He left the church a few minutes before the family left with the casket and apparently didn’t go to cemetery.
Daily Sun also witnessed EFF leader, Julius Malema and Gauteng Premier, Panyaza Lesufi trying to leave the venue after they were denied entry. But before they got into their cars, a family member came and asked them to return into the church.
When the news of Zoleka’s passing was announced, Mandla also released a statement saying she was a voice of hope.
“We salute her brave and heroic fight against cancer but her passing leaves a great void. She was a voice of hope and encouragement to many who are fighting the scourge of cancer. Her bravery emboldened others that they too can fight the battle in pursuit of survival.
“Her time has come and destiny has taken her away too soon. Her spirited life and legacy will always remind us of the warrior soul who fought and succumbed. Yet in doing so she gave hope to others despite her own pain and agony,” he said.
