Southampton v Watford preview
Southampton broke into the automatic promotion places on the weekend for the first time since the opening night of the season, with their 2-0 win at Rotherham on Saturday afternoon taking them above Ipswich, who had occupied second place since September.
Russell Martin’s side are on a staggering 24 match unbeaten run heading into Tuesday’s replay, a run containing 17 wins and seven draws since their defeat at Middlesbrough way back in September.
The Saints have also won their last six home matches in all competitions and seven of their last eight as they bid to extend their winning home record and book themselves a tie at Anfield in fifth round, a round they have reached in each of the last three seasons.

Watford, meanwhile, have won just one of their last eight matches against Championship opposition, a run which has seen the Hornets fall down to 11th in the table following Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at home to Cardiff, four points off the play-offs.
Valerien Ismael’s side are winless in their last four matches ahead of their daunting trip to the Hampshire coast on Tuesday night, though do hold a strong record away from home, with only four teams having picked up more points on the road this season.
The Hertfordshire side are unbeaten in their last seven matches away from Vicarage Road in all competitions, and haven’t reached this stage of the FA Cup since they went all the way to the final in 2019.
The last two meetings between the two sides have both ended in 1-1 draws, with Watford only winning one of the last 10 games against the Saints, though that win did come in their most recent visit to the St Mary’s Stadium.
📝 Southampton v Watford betting tips
Southampton are strong favourites to get the win and book their ticket to Anfield for round five, with captain and star attacker Adam Armstrong in strong form as he scored his 15th goal of the season on Saturday.
Sky Bet are offering the Saints to win, both teams to score, and Armstrong to score at 7/2 for Tuesday’s game.
